Prerequisites
MUM_016 Master's Thesis Seminar II
The topic of the master's thesis will be arranged personally with the internal teacher of the Department of Museology. In rare cases it is possible to have the thesis supervised by an external teacher, solely on the basis of prior arrangement and subsequent approval of the student with the head of the department or the administrative officer. The thesis must be submitted no later than the start of the 3rd semester of the Master's degree. Prior completion of MUM_015 Master's Thesis Seminar I., which is recommended in the 3rd semester of study, is a prerequisite. In parallel with the Master's Thesis course, it is necessary to take MUM_016 Master's Thesis Seminar II.

Course objectives
Submission of the completed thesis by April 30; June 30 (spring) or November 30 (fall) in an electronic version and one hardbound copy. Acceptance of the completed thesis for defense is acknowledged by the thesis supervisor with a grade of credit. The graded evaluation of the thesis is the result of the defense, which is based on the opinions of the opponent and the thesis supervisor.

Assessment methods
Submission of a working version of the methodology, theory, and main core research chapters by the deadline 30 days prior to the final submission date, i.e., no later than March 31; May 31 (spring); and October 31 (fall) to the course office. Students who fail to meet this requirement will automatically be graded with a grade of X after the above date. The thesis supervisor will award credit upon final submission of the thesis by the regular deadline that meets the appropriate formal criteria. The thesis is then graded on the basis of the result of the defense and the opinions of the thesis supervisor and the thesis opponent.

Teacher's information
The prescribed length of the Master's thesis text is 140 000 characters (including spaces). The length includes the text itself, the notes and the table of contents. The text of the thesis does not include appendices or a list of references. The citation standard follows industry practice and will be specified by the thesis supervisor if necessary. The authorship of the thesis content is part of the evaluation. Non-original and borrowed texts, or other content parts of the thesis without appropriate citations, or parts written by a person other than the submitting student, may be grounds for non-acceptance of the thesis. The finished and complete master's thesis must be submitted to the IS Thesis Archive no later than November 30 (fall semester) or April 30 or June 30 (spring semester) and accepted in one administrative version by the Museology Department. Theses submitted late will automatically be deferred for processing in the following examination period. The dates of the bachelor thesis defense coincide with the dates of the bachelor thesis examination and these are announced according to the requirements of the Study and Examination Regulations.
