- Course objectives
- The aim of the course is to acquire the basic skills associated with scientific work, primarily critical and analytical work with sources and specialist texts related to the scientific focus of the student and the topic of their dissertation.
- Learning outcomes
- On completion of the course, the student will have acquired, in particular, the ability of critical and interpretive work with specialist texts related to the scientific focus of the student and the topic of his/her dissertation.
- Syllabus
- The course is focused on work with a specific specialist text. In agreement with the supervisor and based on the topic of the dissertation, the student selects and critically evaluates a group of relevant sources and a specialist text or group of texts, excerpts and evaluations of which are important for the successful solution of a partial aspect of the dissertation. The selection of texts changes each semester based on the course of the solution of dissertation tasks and according to current published monographs or conference proceedings.

- The literature is assigned individually according to the issues under discussion.

- Teaching methods
- The course is in the form of individual consultations with the supervisor and discussions on a selected issue.
- Assessment methods
- The student will prepare a specialist search, particularly of sources and secondary literature, and take up a critical position on them; the scope and thematic focus of the search will correspond to the character of the dissertation.
