Course objectives
The subject of the course in literary criticism are te general problems of literary scholarship a its social functions, methods, disciplinary structure and new questions including the innovative concepts of comparative, genre and area studies. The aim of the curse consists in reaching the ability of a doctoral student to work individually with the stimuli of literary criticism both of the past and the present, apply them flexibly to the analysed material, including the subject of the dissertation. A part of the course is also a practical text analyses and procedures of scholarly work. The output of the course is a separate study covering 10 normative pages.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course the doctoral student will acquire the knowledge about the history and the present time of literary criticism, about the newest procedures and shifts in its disciplines, will be able to grasp the complex of methodology and apply it to his/her own analyses including the key parts of the dissertation.
