- Course objectives
- In the course, students will acquire knowledge with the combinatorial component of natural language, which allows simple linguistic units to combine into complex structures such as phrases and sentences. The course focuses on selected syntactic rules and phenomena, which are analyzed from the perspectives of both spoken and sign languages, with particular emphasis on their comparison.
- Learning outcomes
- At the end of the course, the students have acquired an analytic perspective on selected syntactic phenomena and are able to analyze specific examples from various sign languages. They gain an understanding of the rules of syntax in natural language and can compare selected phenomena in sign and spoken languages.
