- Course objectives
- To introduce the basic works, authors and art historical facts of ancient culture. Students will be introduced to themes that have influenced later periods, up to the present day.
- Learning outcomes
- After passing the course student will be able; - to know basic time order of ancient times; - to decribe basic cultural-historical features of Antiquity; - to apply these features on chosen literary works

- The influence of ancient tradition on later periods
- Greek Antiquity: Homer, Greek tragedy, theatre, poetry
- Sofokles: Antigone - analysis
- Bible as Literature: narration and memory
- Old and New Testament
- Virgil and his Aenneas: the myth and the state
- The End of the Roman Antiquity and the Time of transition - Augustine, Boethius

- Written test: Content of lectures, screenings, guest appearances, and texts inserted into IS. The test contains 15 - 20 open questions, takes about 30 minutes and requires a minimum of 75% pass rate to be awarded a colloquium.
