Course objectives
In this course, students acquire the information and skills necessary to submit a successful grant application. At the end of the course, students will be able to write up a grant proposal. The proposal should meet the criteria for a proposal submitted to the Czech Science Foundation (Grantová agentura České republiky, GAČR) or similar schemes. Students will also be able to submit a project in English and as members of a research team.
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course, students should be able to:
  • define a grant, grant policy and grant strategy;
  • understand the principles of grant applications;
  • submit an individual grant application;
  • submit the project in English and as members of a research team.

    Lectures; individual work on the grant application; moderated discussion; analysis of selected examples of successful and unsuccessful grant applications.

    Presentation of a grant application project (individual or written with a team); evaluation of the quality of the project by the lecturer and other participants in the course; identification of the strengths and weaknesses of the submitted projects.
