- Course objectives
- The aim of the course is to provide students with a basic overview of Korean cinema and television production, focusing on their cultural significance, global impact, and cognitive aspects of media perception. Students will explore key genres, historical developments, and how modern media reflect and influence Korean society. Additionally, they will examine cognitive processes related to audiovisual perception, narrative immersion, emotions, and parasocial interactions between viewers and characters.
- Learning outcomes
- Upon completing the course, students will be able to: identify and analyze key genres in Korean cinema and television; explain the historical development of Korean media and its cultural impact; assess the connection between traditional Korean culture and modern film and television production; evaluate the global influence of Korean pop culture in the context of Hallyu (Korean Wave); apply theoretical knowledge when analyzing a specific K-drama or film.

- The course will conclude with a final project, in which students will present an analysis of a selected K-drama or film and its cultural and global impact. Assessment will be based on: Active participation in discussions (50%) Final presentation and analytical paper (50%)

- In the case of a study abroad program, the course may be completed alternatively by submitting an individual written analysis of a selected Korean film or drama, followed by a presentation upon return.
