Course objectives
At the end of the course students should understand the development and trend of Greek architecture from Bronze Age to the Early Christian period. It is explained on characteristic examples. This course should be undestood as an addition to the the main courses of Greek and Roman architecture.

  • 1. Burial architecture of Early Minoan Period 2. Timber in Minoan architecture 3. Architecture of defensible refugies of LM period 4. Mycenaean so called "public architecture" (roads, bridges, damms etc.) 5. Dark Age wooden architecture 6. Rural architecture of archaic and early classical period 7. Arcaic temples on Sicily 8. Greek hous and hellenistic urbanism 9. Continuity of habitation 10. Roman Athens 11. Specifics of Early byzantine religion architecture 12. Rural architecture of the Early Byzantine period
