- Course objectives
- The aim of the course is to introduce students to the topic of pedagogical communication - its theoretical foundations and practical application in the field of education. The first part of the course will be devoted to general theories of interpersonal communication, while the second part will focus on communication between selected actors in education. Communication will be conceptualized here as a key tool that influences not only thinking and the learning process, but also the overall dynamics of relationships in the educational environment. Throughout the course, students will analyze real-life recordings of pedagogical communication to help them identify and understand various communication phenomena. Students will work both individually and in groups. The course emphasizes linking theory to practice and encourages active student engagement through analysis of real situations, discussion, and teamwork.
- Learning outcomes
- After completing the course, students will be able to: (1) Analyze a lesson and assess the quality of communication between the teacher and students using technical terminology, relevant concepts, and theories; (2) Understand the relationship between communication, thinking, and learning; (3) Describe the structure of typical classroom communication as identified in current research; (4) Explain the theoretical concept of dialogic teaching and research on its implementation and effects; (5) Understand the relational dynamics of the classroom, particularly the power dynamics between teachers and students; (6) Understand how research on pedagogical communication is conducted; (7) Design and evaluate a simple inquiry based on observing video recordings of teaching.
