Prerequisites
Interest in the topics discussed, awareness of video games. At least a basic knowledge of translatological concepts, approaches and procedures is recommended.

Course objectives
The aim of the course is to introduce students to the field of audiovisual translation and localization, both from theoretical and practical aspects. The course is divided into three blocks. In the first block, students are introduced to basic translatological concepts and approaches. The second block is devoted to audiovisual translation, especially subtitling. The third block deals with the localization of video games, websites and mobile applications.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, the student will be able to understand the basic concepts and approaches of translatology and apply them to the field of audiovisual translation and localization, define the terms audiovisual translation and localization, know the practical procedure of creating film and series subtitles, including the requirements for them. In addition, the student will be able to navigate in the field of localisation and know its specifics. The student should also be able to recognise and comment on inappropriate subtitling or localisation and propose a suitable solution.

Teaching methods
Lectures, practical exercises, discussion of topics, continuous assignment of short homework tasks related to the material discussed.
Assessment methods
Regular attendance (max 2 absences), completion of homework, including the semester project, and successful completion of the final written test are required to pass the course.
