- Course objectives
- AJ 25011 Literature of the American Southwest This course surveys southwestern literature from pre-colonial times to the present. Using traditional Native American and Mexican American stories, European explorers and missionaries accounts, autobiographies, short stories, novels, poetry, essays, interviews, and documentaries, we will examine the cultural diversity of the region. Readings will include works by Rudolfo Anaya, Willa Cather, Denise Chavez, Cormac McCarthy, and Leslie Marmon Silko.
