Cíle předmětu
The course will consider developments in modern aesthetics and related contemporary debates in the British context. Novels considered will include "The Portrait of A Lady" by Henry James, "The Rainbow" by D.H. Lawrence, "Ulysses" by James Joyce, "Mrs Dalloway" by Viriginia Woolf,'Malone Dies' by Samuel Beckett and "Brideshead Revisited" by Evelyn Waugh.The theoretical component will look at recent British approaches to the significance of 19th century German aesthetics for contemporary literary theory and criticism.
