Course objectives
A survey of ancient Etruscans, pointing out notably their erlations with Central Europe, from their origins to their disapparance in the Roman empire. A survey of Etruscan religion, of their values, style of life, sports, tombs,cities.
Syllabus
  • The origins of the Etruscans, Villanovan Etruria, Etruscan cities, Etruscan federation, Etruscands in Campania and in the Po valley, Crisis of the 5th century Social structure of Etruruia, themetoikoi. Economy, warfare, Dress and feasts, Sports, Etruscan religion, its particularities, Etruscans and the north.
