Course objectives
Law and Informatics introduces students to the theoretical basis, the content and methods of searching on the Internet and in automatized systems with information on Czech and European law. Special attention is given to legal issues concerning the use of information and copyright protected works in librarianship practice.
Syllabus
  • Introduction to legal theory and basic legal terminology. Legal texts and legal documents their structure, types and mutual relations, historical and contemporary publishing platforms. Introduction to law and informatics, history of legal information systems (LIS) in the Czech Republic and abroad. Content of LIS, general requirements for search and requirements for compiling a query. Fulltext searches. Work with retrieved documents, relations between documents, hypertext. Other possibilities of LIS, printouts. Other sources of information about law and for lawyers especially on the Internet. Presentation of big information systems and resources - ASPI, LexDATA, LexGalaxy, EUR-Lex and other systems (e.g. Konzultant, EPIS). Library law and other aspects of library operation. Periodicals and non-periodicals. Copyright in librarianship practice. E-government, information systems of public administration, electronic documents, electronic signature, Free access to information and personal data protection. Law and the Internet, information society services act, electronic communications act. E-commerce. Cybercrime.
Assessment methods (in Czech)
Výuka se realizuje formou přednášek s počítačovou prezentací. Podmínkou k udělení zápočtu je samostatná práce s informačním systémem (většinou ASPI) a vyřešení několika příkladů s využitím PIS a internetu. Samotný zápočet bude udělen po úspěšném absolvování písemného testu z teoretických znalostí (formou odpovědníku v IS).
