Course objectives
Students, by particular thematical ensembles , are informed about most important events and tendencies of museal trends in a given historical kontext. The course begins with establishing of first museums and it ends with analysis of contemporary condition of museums in the Czech Republic. The aim of the course - to overview the general developement of museum institutions, the collecting interrelated to them and the theoretical thinking about museum phenomenon on theritory of historical Czech Lands.

  • History of Czech museums - methodological problems.
  • Origins of Czech museums.
  • Origin and charakter of provincial museums in 1st half of 19th century.
  • František Palacký and his platform for National Museum in Prague.
  • Origin of regional and special museum from 60th to 90th of 19th century.
