Course objectives
The aim of the lecture is to perceive the Central European literatures in mutual relations and to compare the literary artefacts at the background of the development of the poetics of different national literatures and the authors of world literature. At the end of the course the students will be able to perceive the Central European literatures in mutual relations and to compare the literary artefacts in a wide range of aesthetic phenomena.
Syllabus
  • The introduction to the problems consists of the delimitation of the notions modernism, world literature, context, interliterary relations, the importance of anthropology and interdisciplinarity. The analysed material will comprise the works of W. Gombrowicz, S. Márai, S. Zweig, A. Schnitzler, K. Čapek, F. Kafka, Th. Mann,E. Kästner, and J. C. Hronský.
