Course objectives
The purpose of this course is to orientate students in the art of the 20th century. At the end of this course students should be able to interpret important tendencies and works of modern art.
Syllabus
  • 1.Beginning of modern Art, interpretations of modern art and basic problems.; 2. Art 1900-1918: Fauvism, expressionism. Cubism. Futurist reconstruction of the universe. Abstract art.; 3.Duchamp and the new concept of art.; 4.Art 1918-1939. Dada and surrealism. Constructivism. Art and society: "Entartete Kunst".5. Art after 1945 in America, Europe and Czech Rep.: abstract expressionism, pop art, minimalism. New tendencies, new technic possibilities.; 6. Modern adn postmodern art.
