- Upon completion of this course, students will be able to critically evalute transformations in the development of modern scenography in the international context.
- Syllabus
- preconditions and beginnings of the development of modern scenography - R. Wagner's theatre reform, stage reformers A. Appia and E.G. Craig, manifestations of symbolism and art nouveau in scenography
- expresionism, political theatre and its scenography: the influence of film on the expression of relationships in space, B. Brecht's scenographers
- beginnings of the avant-garde and its transformations - futuristic, dadaistic, kubistic and surrealistic experiments, Russian constructivism,theatre workshop of the Bauhaus
- world scenography after the World War II: symbiosis of director and scenographer in the process of staging, Josef Svoboda's scenography in the international context
- scenography of the "poor theatre": rejection of technology on stage, unity of theatre space
- new forms and paradigms: oscillation on the border of theatre and performance, postmodern manifestations in scenography
