- Course objectives
- At the end of the course students should be able to describe and discuss the social position, specific professional features, or feedback (stereotypes) of particular independent groups of inhabitants of the country and cities of Bohemia, Moravia, Silesia and Slovakia in the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries.
- Syllabus
- Following specific professional and social groups will be characterised during the course: carters and wagoners, rafters, smugglers, journeymen, beggars, activities, crafts and trades on the edge of the society (knackers etc.), butchers, shepherds, farm servants, animal castrators, tinkers, minor home crafts and trades, chafferers, coalmen, iron-mill craftsmen, smiths and other metal-working crafts (files and shoe-nails manufacturers), miners, teachers, millers, beekeepers, wax-chandlers, glassblowers, home producers, specific groups with a dominant influence on the locality and region (whip manufacturers etc.)
