- The course is offered to students of any study field.
- Course objectives
- The course presents the Tocharian languages, their outer history and grammatical details. Then reading of selected texts follows. At the end of this course, students will be able to interpret some grammatical features and lexicon of Tocharian buddhist manuscripts.
- Syllabus
- 1. Discovery and characteristics of Tocharian manuscripts (their datings and localities). 2. History of the Chinese Turkestan and migration theories of Tocharians. 3. Interferences of Tocharian languages. 4. Alphabet. 5. Grammar. 6. Lexicon. 7. Reading of selected texts.
