Course objectives
Practical course focused on creative and systematic work with the idea of fiction/ non-fiction film and developing of scriptwriting skills and dramaturgical feedback of the text as well.
Syllabus
  • Part I (lessons no. 1-6) First six lessons (first half of the semester) will be concerned with a theoretical grounding in specific technics and possibilities of the idea and the script development.
  • Classes will be focused on subject of author in a process of writing within dramaturgical work on the text and friction/non-friction attitude to the theme explaining important moments in the creative process across all genres.
  • Students will split in two basic working groups according to their key interest - ficton or non-fiction film.
  • Students have to develop their own original idea for the script during the first half of the semester.
  • Theoretical introduction will be accompanied by Czech directors and scriptwriters with different attitude to the theme. Students will have possibility to read their scripts to be able to discuss and understand different writing approaches.
  • Part II (lessons no. 7-12)
  • Second half of the semester is focused on students pitch sessions. Each student has to present his theme to others and their develop their ideas to reach the point of the semester - a movie script.
  • Beside the script each student makes a dramaturgical reflection of the work of one of his colleagues from second working group. It means that each author has its own script editor.
