Course objectives
At the end of the course, the students should be able to interpret the relevant texts from the linguistic perspective; to describe the aesthetics of works (literary genre, metrics, rhythm, metaphors, allegory) as well as the content; to identify the relation of the texts to the classical model (Ovid); to recognize the general principles of medieval Latin literature.

Lecture and Interpretation: Matthaues Vindocinensis, Pyramus et Thisbe; conparation with the Matthaeus´ Ars versificatoria 3. Lecture and Interpretation - Theoderici Pyramus et Thisbe. The Text-Tradition. 4. Lecture and Interpretation- Theoderici Pyramus et Thisbe. 5. Lecture and Interpetation - Anonymi Pyramus et Thisbe I. 6. Teaching methods
2-hour seminar once in two week´s time. Reading, translation, class discussion. During the parallel lecture, students will get the seminar texts chosen for their study, they will prepare their own translation and commentary for the seminar. Discussion.
Assessment methods
Active class participation (class discussion), min. 75%; proving the ability to translate and interpret the text; credit.
