- Course objectives
- The introduction to problems of translation of informative, factual and publicistic texts. Students will be taught to analyze factual texts, understand their specifics and translate them adequately from a source language (foreign) into a target language (mother tongue) and vice versa. Translation procedures are practiced on texts of thematic field of administrative, managing and business problems. Focus on work with dictionaries and information sources.

- 1. Fundamental types and genres of factual texts.
- 2. Main principles and individual aspects of a complex language analysis of factual texts from the point of view of translation.
- 3. Translatological minimum (types of translation, problems of equivalence and ways of translation transformations)
- 4. Typological differences between Russian and Czech from the point of view of translation
- 5. Equivalence on a graphic and orthographic level of the text (transcription of proper names)
- 6. Types of lexical equivalence from the point of view of similarity and differences of form and content
- 7. Equivalency of language devices from a stylistic point of view
- 8. Problems of translation of Russian and Czech life and institutions
- 9. Practical and technical aspects of translation
