- Course objectives
- The object of this course is to study the development of Czech-German relations in the field of education since the release of General school-ordinance in the reign of Maria Theresa until the period of the release of Kosice government program at the end of the Second World War. Basic forms of teaching are lectures and student research projects. Students will gain not only a basic overview of the issues, but also will be able to realize their own research project on the Czech-German relations in the history of education after the methodological grounding.

- 1. Methodological issues of historical-pedagogical research. 2. Maria Theresa's General school-ordinance and its implications for schooling in the Czech lands. 3. Development of education in the first half of the 19th century - the first attempt to introduce the Czech language as a teaching language. 4. Law Hasner and its implications for the development of the Czech education in the border areas. 5. Defensive educational associations - Central School Foundation, Deutsche Schulverein, National Unity. 6. The establishment of Czechoslovakia and the question of routing of education. 7. Law Metelka - Universal education act or an attempt to "Schuldrosselungen"? 8. The image of Czech "Volksschule" in the Bohemia. 9. The image of Czech "Volksschule" in the Moravia and Slesia. 10. Czech schools during the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia. 11. German education in Czechoslovakia after World War II.
