Course objectives
The course will be focused on the development of skills to translate longer target texts with specific functions (function aesthetical communicative and popularizing). Practice of translation macro- and microstrategies lead by native speakers of target and source languages will be focused on mastering language and cultural specific features which appear when translating literary works and texts with literary communicative function. Training methods develop translation competences in the sphere of mutual transposition Czech and French cultural specific features (life and institutions, social rituals, allusions to historical events/ figures, intertextuality etc.) as well as language, literary and research competences. At the end of this course, students should be able:
to use correct methods and techniques in individual stages of translating;

Combination of individual and team work. Homework.

Portfolio containing translations and comments.
