Course objectives
The overview of the traditional and modern ontological categories (the being, the matter, the time, the space, the movement, the development, the system, the structure, the information) in the context with the reflexion of the natural sciences (physics, cosmology) as the elements of a new ontological concept. The evolutionary and dynamic understanding of being. Evolution and orderliness, evolution and information, constitutive role of information, conflict of the natural and cultural evolution, implication of the evolutionary ontology.

  • The problem of a definition of matter An attempt to define time and space Homogeneity and isotropy of time and space Dynamic and structural change Differentiation of causation and determinism Differentiation of law and regularity The essence of regularity A definition of system and its basic types A definition of information and its basic types
  • Topics:
  • 1. The question of Being Being as a linguistic and logical problem Substance and relational ontology
  • 2. The concepts of matter and nature Matter as a concept (general concept, substance, definition of matter) Nature, space, world
  • 3. Space Linguistic insight and practical understanding of space Space and environment Finiteness and infinity of (the space of)the real world
  • 4. Time Linguistic insight and practical understanding of time Philosophical implications of modern physical theories Non-physical concepts of time
  • 5. Motion Causes and forms of motion Motion, change, transformation, kinds of change Motion and evolution
  • 6. Causation and determinism Definition and differentiation of causation and determinism and their types Problems of causation and its replacement Determinism, indeterminism
  • 7. Law and regularity, necessity and contingency (only natural law) The essence of regularity, kinds of regularity, law as a formulation. Necessity and contingency and the question of their objectivity Chaos, a new concept of order and chaos
  • 8. New categories in ontology - system, structure, function, information. Place and role of new categories Definition, typology and their roles in the system of evolution ontology. Evolution ontology: contradictio in adjecto?

Teaching methods
