Cíle předmětu
The workshop aims to provide students with a broad knowledge base to understand social movements in contemporary Chinese Societies. Besides providing background, students are encouraged to further their analytical skills through the exploration of reading materials and in-class discussion.
Výstupy z učení
After the workshop, students will be able to discuss various social movements, and its influence on contemporary Chinese societies, with a particular focus on protests in Taiwan and Hong Kong.
Osnova
  • At the beginning of the semester, students will be provided with all reading materials and topics for presentations. They will be divided into groups and prepare the presentation in advance for the workshop.

Metody hodnocení
In order to pass this course, students select one of the study questions, read the materials, and prepare a group presentation. One group should have 2-4 members. Each presentation should be 20-30 min long, and it must be clear who is responsible for which part.
