Course objectives
This cycle of seminars aims to ensure that its graduates acquire the basic skills to identify old written documents linked by a shared provenance. Using specific examples, differences between schools whose scribes are linked by a graphical affinity and scribal workshops will be pointed out. Individual attention will be paid to the graphics of centres of diplomatic provenance – offices, in their diachronic development.
Main aims of the course: 1. The undergraduate will become acquainted with the character of the oldest Bohemian sources. 2. They will acquire the basic skills to identify the place of origin of a specific source preserved in the form of either a manuscript or charter. 3. They will become acquainted with the foundations of the edition method to publish the oldest manuscript fragments, as well as the foundations of the interpretation of the content of texts preserved fragmentarily.
