- Course objectives
- The goal of the course is to familiarize the students with basic grammatical phenomena in the Czech Sign language. The lectures focus on the practice of the grammar and the basic lexicon simultaneously. The seminar TCZJ01 Language practice I is dedicated to the lexicon acquisition. The explanation of the grammar is based on the commentary of the video recordings with Czech Sign language texts.
- Learning outcomes
- At the end of the course, students know how to use the simplest grammatical structures in CSL and the corresponding lexicon. They understand the grammar they use and they can explain it (in Czech).
- Syllabus
- Thematic areas: 1. Me and my family; 2. My surroundings; 3. My home; 4. Everyday life and time; 5. Life in a city. Grammar: numerals, incorporation, name signs, agreeing verbs, non-manuals, oral components, personal pronouns, wh- questions, affirmative sentences, plain verbs, possessive pronouns, coordination, shape and size specifiers, word order, negation, the sign TYP, aspect (the sign HOTOVO), live space and small space, wh-words, the nominal phrase, locative verbs, auxiliary signs for verbal agreement, syntactic space and topographic space, topicalization, expression of cause, nominal pluralization, expression of time, reciprocal verbs, the time frame, clock, the sign PRO, specific signs (intro).
