Course objectives
The students form the course are introduced to the broader issues of historical methodology, they will get acguainted to more advanced historical methods and approaches in the context of the latest development of historiography. Each method is presented on examples from the history of historical sciences and interpreted form the theoretical point of view. An integral part of the course is the practical demonstration of the application of methods on specific historical material. The demonstration is based, as a rule, on the teacher's own research.
Learning outcomes
Students will be oriented in the historical methodology. They gain an overview of current methodological trends in historical science. They acquire the ability, how to choose a right method and how to do it properly to answer questions of their own historical research.

Lecture, exercises, class discussion
Assessment methods
Seminar work in the form of methodological essay and practical application of selected method in the range of 10-15 pages. Oral examination as a defense of the results of the seminar work.
