- Course objectives
- This course offers an overview of contemporary Chinese culture and society since the “Economic Reform and Opening Up” launched in 1978, with strong focus on last three decades and last three Chinese presidents through the study of changes in politics, the economy, society, culture, and everyday life in China. The course also develops an understanding of media image and soft power.
- Learning outcomes
- At the end of the semester students will be able to: explain the development of Chinese communist ideology analyze communist leadership and possible future development understand the structure of CCP China's international position navigate through key CCP's issues such as corruption or a carrier diplomacy

- The course will be conducted in seminar/discussion format. Students are strongly encouraged to ask questions to participate in discussion on the assigned readings or course materials.
