Course objectives
The course is the entry into the issue of research into religion. It introduces the basic approaches to religion in social sciences to the students, and it deals with particular concepts from the research into religion and associated realia.
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course the students should be able to define and interpret selected concepts of ethnology of religion. The students should be able to discuss this subject from ethnological point of view.

  • 3. Classification of religion.
  • 4. Shamanism.
  • 5. Totemism.
  • 6. Mana, tabu, animism, animatism, fetishism.
  • 7. Myth
  • 8. Ritual
  • 9. Magic.
  • 10. Sorcery, witchcraft.
  • 11. Syncretism.
