- Course objectives
- The aim of the course is to improve in inter- and intrapersonal communication abilities for students in various environments from study to work and personal. The course will also support the integration of non-formal education methods in the university teaching, increase students' pro-activity, support their social feelings and help students prevent mental overload or burnout.
- Learning outcomes
- The outcomes of the course depend on the degree of personal involvement of individual students and their willingness to use the methods and techniques acquired in the course in their lives. Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to use many specific techniques and methods, including: - giving the other party space to express themselves, actively listen and give quality and structured feedback; - distinguish individual communication contexts not only from their own point of view, but also from the point of view of the other party; - understand the principles of assertive behavior and nonviolent communication and become aware of the techniques of their use.

- 1. Introduction to communication - what is it? Basic communication model • 2. Personality types - how do we communicate and what do we expect from the other party? Communication contexts • 3. Non-verbal and paraverbal communication, pitfalls of written and online communication • 4. Communication barriers and what to do with them, basics of nonviolent communication • 5. Behavior patterns, asertivity, communication filters • 6. Importance of active listening, providing and receiving feedback

- Teaching methods
- Active participation (individually or in groups) through communication, confrontational, (self) reflective and relaxation exercises and activities with subsequent debriefing.
- Assessment methods
- 1. Elaboration of an essay - reflection - Submission deadline: by the end of the semester - scope: at least 2 standard pages - the thematic assignment will be specified based on consultation with teachers • 2. Completion of continuous practical tasks and exercises - individual or group work on individual thematic blocks (fulfilment of at least 5 out of 7 of these continuous activities) • 3. Full participation in our meetings • 4. Completion of a written online evaluation of the entire course
