- Course objectives
- The course goal is continuing study and systematic analysis of types of words in Vietnamese language and their origin. The course further develops basic knowledge from the course Vj3 required for the State examination. The course Continuing lexicology of Vietnamese language is a profile core course of the study programme Vietnamese Studies.
- Learning outcomes
- At the end of the course students will be able to:
- describe the means of creating modern terminology in Vietnamese language and explain semantic shifts in the historical terminology reused in the present;
- analyse the context and meaning of traditional Vietnamese and Sinovietnamese words;
- describe differences among selected words in Vietnamese dialects;
- analyse the most used Vietnamese personal and geographical names on the basis of acquired theory and terminology;
- identify and partially actively use further means of Vietnamese phraseology. - Syllabus

- Assessment methods
- Written brief tests at the beginning of every lecture - 50 % of correct answers from all brief tests (including tests from missed classes) is needed to pass for final written examination. Then at least 80 % of correct answers from final written examination is needed to pass the course. Note: also at least 75 % of correct answers from all brief tests is enough (= with no required level of results from final written examination) to pass the course.
