- Cíle předmětu
- This course was created with the support of the EDUC project, co-funded by the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union. This online course introduces students to the basic terms, analytical techniques and intepretive strategies commonly employed in literary and cultural studies. The materials, divided into self-contained units, are made available online on the EDUC moodle platform. Students go through the materials, both textual and visual, on their own and do assignments.
- Výstupy z učení
- Upon completing the course, students will be able to:
- describe and analyse the relationship between culture and power with the help of concepts such as ideology, interpellation, subjectivity, power/knowledge and discourse
- understand cultural studies as the study of the effects of social power relations, particularly as inflected by gender, race and class, on culture, subjectivity and identity
- analyse major cultural traditions and developments in key Anglophone countries in the light of this understanding
- make these insights productive and correctly use key terms and concepts in order to write short analyses of cultural texts - Osnova
- This course is fully online, students follow the instructions for individual weeks on their own, processing textual and visual materials and doing assignments as indicated in instructions. There are no real-time classes online or offline.
