Course objectives
At the and of this course, students should be able to: excercise the main optical methods working on the individual diploma problems of students
Learning outcomes
Student will be able to: - apply optical microscopy of minerals and rocks in solving the topic of his diploma thesis thema
Syllabus
  • The instruction has the nature of consultations, pertinent to petrological work.
  • It is focused on practical tasks, ensuing from the theme of diploma thesis, namely: micropetrographic analyses, quantitative mineralogical analyses,
  • rock classifications, grain-size measurement, porosity
  • microstructural and textural petrological characteristics
  • thermogravimetry and its application
  • X-ray diffraction study of rocks and its application infrared spectroscopy and its application in petrographically oriented work
  • electron microscopy and microanalysis
  • The instruction is modified according to needs of the diploma students in individual classes
