Syllabus

Principles of geotechnics. Relation of geotechnics to sciences. Indexes and mechanical properties of earths. Stress in foundation soil. Research of foundation soil. Types of foundation, bearing of foundation. Stability of building site, slides, compacting of the earth, grouts, control methods. Water at building site, permeability of the earths, drainage methods of the building site, suffosis and colmatage, erosion by cavitation. Geotechnical judgement.
Quaternary. Object of study, absolute and relative time-limits of quaternary, climatic oscilations, glacials and interglacials. Glacial forms and geological phenomena. Overburden of periglacial areas. Stratigraphy of the quaternary. Morphostratigraphy. Subrecent shapes at quaternary overburdens.
