Course objectives
Stars. The third Kepler's law. Spectral classification. The Hetzsprung-Russell diagram. Magnetic fields of stars. Determination of distances in astronomy. Physics of stellar interiors. Origin, evolution, and final stadii of stars. Stellar evolution in close binaries. Galaxies. Quasars. Stellar populations and their characteristics. Interstellar matter and its absorption properties. Structure of the Universe. Red shift. Hubble's Law. The Cosmological Principle. Models of the Universe. Determinations of the Hubble Constant, decceleration parameter and average density of the Universe. The relict radiation. The Sun and the solar system. The terrestrial planets. Cosmogony of the solar system.
