- LECTURE TOPICS 1. Principles of data analysis: Matching models to experimental data 2. Confidence intervals for rate and equilibrium constants 3. Time course of biochemical and biophysical processes: Mathematical models 4. Experimental methods for the determination of rate constants 5. Biochemical and biophysical equilibria: Mathematical models 6. Analysis of equilibrium binding data 7. Enzyme catalysis and inhibition of enzymes 8. Choosing the appropriate molecular mechanism based on available data Notes: • All lectures will include concrete examples from published literature
- EXERCISES 1. Determination of an equilibrium binding constant for a protein-protein or protein-DNA interaction 2. Determination of rate constants for protein-ligand interaction 3. Determination of stoichiometry protein-ligand interaction 4. Selecting an appropriate mechanism for enzyme inhibition Notes: • Practical sessions will be held in the computer laboratory using the software DynaFit • All exercises will include actual data published in the literature • Students are encouraged to bring their own additional data
