Course objectives
The course Master thesis LGMD VI is designed as a course encouraging students to solve their thesis from the field of medical genetics, molecular biology of man or techniques of molecular diagnostics. At the end of the course students should be able to work with scientific literature, to identify the problem, formulate hypothesis which is subsequently tested by the series of suitable experiments in the laboratories. After concluding the course the student should be able to use the data and information acquired during elaboration of the Master's thesis and elaborate them in a complex way so that the student can finish and submit a valid Master's thesis and present the results and conclusions of experimental scientific work by oral form.
Syllabus
  • Meeting the tasks and experiments assigned by supervisor. Perform a study of science literature to solved problems. Individual consultations during the work on the master thesis. Summarize the reached results.

Teaching methods
The course runs experimentally in research laboratories mainly in the Institute of experimental biology, and external research workplaces. Students perform practical experiments according to the instructions of supervisors and according to printed manuals. There is a need to study scientific literature, web-based literature databases, individual consultations with supervisor periodically.
Assessment methods
The course is completed and credited after the tasks consulted with the supervisor are worked out and at least one PowerPoint presentation on an expert seminar is given.
