Course objectives
The aim of the course is to acquaint the students with institutions in which the graduates of the Department of Geography of the Faculty of Science of Masaryk University and other geographers find employment. Students are acquainted with the focus and mission of specific institutions, as well as with the work of geographers working in these institutions and with current projects and research or practical goals that the representatives of these institutions solve.
Learning outcomes
Student completing the course will be able to:
- appoint institutions that operate in the field of human geography and employ graduates of this field;
- describe the specific activity of human geography graduates in practice;
- give examples of real geographic projects.
Syllabus
  • 1) Introductory lecture: opportunities and risks of employing of human geography graduates.
  • 2 to 12) Lectures by experts about the activities of the workplaces they represent and on their specific research or applied projects.

Teaching methods
Presentations of specialists active in scientific sphere and professionals from apllied geography, including project advisors.
Assessment methods
The course is completed by a credit which students receive for their attendance and active participation in discussions with practitioners.
