Course objectives
The course is focused on chemical data recalculation to empirical formulae and crystal-chemical sites
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course, the student will be able to recalculate chemical analyzes to empirical formulae calculate amount of unanalyzed oxides re-calculate the valence of iron assign elements to crystallographic sites count the representation of end members visualize the substitution trends critically evaluate chemical analyses
Syllabus
  • Introduction to chemical analyzes and mineral formulas
  • Formulas of sulphides, oxisulfides, halides
  • Formulas of anhydrous oxides and silicates
  • Formulas of carbonates
  • Recalcuation of analyzes with   OH, F, Cl and water
  • re-calculation of Fe2+ / Fe3+
  • Evaluation of Be, Li and B content
  • end member calculation visualization of substitution vectors REE pattern-chondrite normalization whole rock data processing .
