Course objectives
The practical course will focus on methodology usefull for structural and kinetic characterisation of proteins/enzymes. The practical exercises will teach students to characterize secondary structure and thermostability of proteins by method of circular dichroism, quarternary structure will be probed by using of native electrophoresis and gel chromatography. The students will learn how to assess basic kinetic parametrs of enzymatic reactions by using colorimetric methods and gas chromatography.
Syllabus
  • 1. Protein folding and stability
  • 2. Quarternary structure of proteins
  • 3. Enzyme activity and kinetics
Teaching methods
laboratory practicals, protocols prepration, homeworks
Assessment methods
the course is finnished when all laboratory practicals are conducted and all corresponding reports are well prepared and delivered (the classification is dependent on the report quality and the correctness of results)
Language of instruction
English
Further Comments
The course is taught annually.
The course is also listed under the following terms Autumn 2010 - only for the accreditation, Autumn 2010, Autumn 2011, Autumn 2011 - acreditation.
