- Course objectives
- The main aim of this course is to provide students an overview on an practical use of basic statistical methods. At the end of the course student should be able to understand basic statistical methods explained in individual lectures. He/she would be able to explain when to apply individual methods and make reasoned decisions about preconditions that are necessary for proper utilization of methods in question. He/she would be able to work with information on data preparation, make deductions based on acquired knowledge concerning statistical methods and properly interpret results
- Syllabus
- Exercises: (basic skill in MS EXEL expected, STATISTICA is used in most of exercises - see the 1st exercise) 1. Intro to STATISTICA 2. Frequency tables, graphical presentation of frequency distribution 3. Descritive statistics 4. Theorethical distribution, testing of normailty 5. Parameters estimation and construction of Pearson's curve 6. Point and interval estimates 7. Hypothesis testing, application of F-test and t-test 8. Nonparametric testing, Mann–Whitney U-test 9.
