- Course objectives
- The main aim of this course is the familiarization with socioeconomic changes of regions in the Czech Republic which took place in the last twenty years and have a significant regional impact. Firstly course is focused on the social and economic transformation of Czech society and economy after 1989, more detailed analysis and description of selected events follow (foreign investment, suburbanization, industrial zones, etc.). Everything is finished with an international comparison of the Czech transition with European examples, especially from Central Europe. The emphasis will be placed on the appropriate usage of available data to analyze these phenomena. Students will also elaborate a short study that will focus on impacts of a selected socio-economic phenomenon to development of the regions in the Czech Republic.

- lectures, group work and critical discussion in lessons, elaboration of seminar paper and sub-tasks related to the topic of socio-economic changes
- Assessment methods
- Student must have for obtaining of credit the adequate attendance at seminars, consigned and certified exercises and elaborated seminar paper. Ending the course will be solved by a colloquium over socio-economic changes of the regions in the Czech Republic.
