Course objectives
The course is devoted to students of magisterial program Geology, mainly to those who intend to pass the state examinations in the subject Paleontology. Students will be able on the advanced university level to appply the main micropaleontological methods for study of sedimentary rocks. They will interpret the main stratigraphy, origin and condition of development of sediments on the base of systematic determination of microfosssils .
Syllabus
  • Basic microscopical methods of the study of the individual systematic groups - Foraminifera, Porifera, Coelenterata, Ostracoda, Bryozoa, Calpionellida,Conodonta, Diatomaceae, Dinophyceae, Rhodophyta, Chlorophyta, palynomorphs. Study of cross sections, palynological preparates, work with the binocular microscope. Preparation methods of micropaleontological samples.
