- Knowledge of high school mathematics.
- Course Enrolment Limitations
- The course is also offered to the students of the fields other than those the course is directly associated with.
- fields of study / plans the course is directly associated with
- Financial and Insurance Mathematics (programme PřF, B-MA)
- Mathematics (programme PřF, B-MA)
- Course objectives
- The main objective of the course is to recall basic high school mathematics needed for courses of mathematical analysis, linear algebra and discrete mathematics. After completing the seminar, students will be able to prove simple statements, perform calculations with inequalities, basic functions, polynomials, divisibility and also to use simple combinatorial considerations.
- Learning outcomes
- After the course, students should be able to understand and precisely formulate simple proofs. They should master the highschool mathematics and be able to perform computations with functions without problems.
- Syllabus
- Types of proofs, divisibility, polynomials, quadratic equations, functions and their graphs, logaritmic and exponential functions, simple proofs from analysis and linear algebra. Some basic combinatorics techniques.

- Teaching methods
- Problem solving seminar with an intensive interaction between teacher and students. A student solves problem in front of the class and other students correct her/his mistakes under the teacher supervision.
- Assessment methods
- 3 written (on-line) tests within a semester, every for 20 points. To obtain credit one has to get at least overall 30 points and at least 5 points from each test. The second requirement is an active participation in seminars, which may be supplied by homework.
