- Course objectives
- The aim of this course is to introduce students to principles of flowing of matter, energy and information in bacterial cell, conditions for growth and reproduction of bacteria, way of ATP production, relationship between catabolism and anabolism and regulatory mechanisms in bacterial cell.
- Learning outcomes
- The student will be able - to understand the connection between behavior and environment - to propose an optimum environment for culturing bacteria - to assess the dynamics of bacterial growth model - prepare model for the growth of bacteria in the different environment
- Syllabus
- Characteristics of bacterial cells. Organisation and functions of bacterial structures. Growth and multiplication of bacteria under static and continuous conditions. Nutrition of bacteria. Energetic metabolism of bacteria. Biosynthesis of small molecules and macromolecules. Regulation of bacterial metabolism.
