Prerequisites
( C3022 Organic Chemistry II/1 || C3050 Organic Chemistry II || C4450 Organic Chemistry III-synth. )
This course is designed primarily for graduate students interested in advancing their skills in synthetic planning. Highly motivated senior undergraduate students are also welcome. Good working knowledge of organic chemistry (Organic Chemistry I and II) and organic synthesis (C4450 Organic Chemistry III - synthesis) is necessary.

Course objectives
In this updated course, the students will explore various concepts behind synthetic planning (retrosynthesis) in the context of complex organic molecules with an emphasis on natural products. Discussed case studies will go beyond the synthetic design and highlight the importance of an objective-driven perspective in formulating a synthetic plan. The course is comprised of lectures, problem sets, mid-term and final exams, and a final project (paper).
