Study-related information

  • Parts of the final state examination and its content
Students must fulfil all requirements from the study plan and registered by templates in the Information System of Masaryk University. Then they are allowed to take the final state exam. The final state exam consists of parts focused on language and on literature. Topics of the final state exam follow basic and profile courses of the study programme and are available from websites of the Department of Czech Language and Department of Czech Literature.
Within the state exam, students’ knowledge of professional terminology, of elementary scholarly sources and of key issues of Czech language and terminology are checked. At the exam, students will prove their ability to present their knowledge of facts in a cultivated way and defend them in discussion as well as the ability to apply their knowledge for the purpose of analysis of specific texts. Within the part focused on language, the knowledge of development and present-day state of Czech are checked (including its standard form and substandard varieties of the language). Within the part focused on literature, students will prove knowledge of the development of Czech literature from the beginnings to the early 21st century, the knowledge of terminology relating to scholarly approaches to literature and the ability to get orientated in present-day concepts of scholarly approaches to literature.
